Stephanie’s Story

I recently came back to train with Mike Belker after taking a few years off with young children. 

After having kids, I tried working out on my own by taking yoga and barre classes. 

Unfortunately, this routine left me with an aggravating hip injury.   

While in physical therapy for my hip, I learned I needed to strengthen certain muscle groups, and almost reprogram how my body moves, to try to keep from making my hip worse. 

I knew Mike was exactly the person I needed to call to help me.   

I have been back training with Mike twice a week for the last 8 months.  He has shown me outstanding personal attention by taking the time to understand my hip situation, and help me work to correct my muscle imbalances. 

His dedication to helping me strengthen and get back in to shape, without aggravating my injury, is greatly appreciated, and is helping immensely.    

Mike is very motivational in his training, and the gym is always a welcoming atmosphere.   Once I walk through the door, I am inspired to give 100%.   

Mike even finds a way to make me smile through the most grueling parts of each work out.

Happy 2015!

Happy New Year! 

Thoughts before you begin your 2015 journey. 

As a trainer I reflect on my interactions with clients and often wonder how I could help them be more successful.

I think of adjustments I could make to their diet or workout to get more results.

Over the last couple of days I have found myself thinking that maybe I’m projecting my vision on to my clients and not listening closely enough to what their NEEDS are.

I know what most people WANT to do, but, what do they NEED to do to get there.

It’s normal for clients to tell me what they think I WANT to hear. It usually consists of their weight loss goals, body composition goals, etc. Those goals are important, but, if a person is not in the right place mentally, emotionally and spiritually with themselves, they will never reach them. This is where the trainer in me has a dilemma. The trainer in me wants to have walking billboards showing my work with them by how they look. I feel that there are many people that begin a journey with a trainer that are simply not in the right place inside to reach those physical goals. There is some work on the inside that NEEDS to be done first.

That doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t work toward physical health. What it means is that we NEED to help find a path to mental, emotional and spiritual health before they will be able to fully embrace the physical aspect.

I want to make a bigger effort to lead with my heart with clients. I want to listen more and talk less so that I’m better able use my knowledge and skills to TRULY help people.

Our formula for a great Personal Training Studio: Sometimes you just have to build it.

A great personal training experience begins with a great space. A personal trainer isn’t going to do you any good if they don’t have the right space.

We hate cramped, overcrowded gyms as much as you do!

Before we opened our doors, we researched and looked at other studios. We couldn’t find what were looking for and found most studios are designed to fit the maximum numbers of people into a space without regard to how that affects the clients. The harsh truth is that most studios are built to maximize profits, not client results.

So we custom designed our own:

The first thing visitors will notice is the layout. It’s designed for faster setup and transitions between workout sets.

As you go through your session, you’ll find our space large enough to never feel cramped, but efficient enough to allow for smooth transitions between sets.

We also feature a large array of quality equipment, many chosen from our own personal experiences.

We hope you find that it welcoming. There’s even a comfortable living room feel to the client trainer meeting area.

Upon completing your first session, we hope you enjoy the redesigned shower and bathroom areas. Just because you’re at a personal training space doesn’t mean it should feel like one.

Are You Just Going Through The Motions? 

When you are walking into the gym, what’s on your mind? Do you day dream in the middle of a set?
